Teaching BIO
Oksana McCarthy is a professional cellist, performer and educator in Charlotte, NC.
Oksana has taught and performed extensively in countries throughout world including Europe, Australia, Asia and United States.
Influenced by the music and cultures of four different continents, Oksana brings a rich background and broad perspective to the classroom. Over the last decade she has given private lessons out of her home studio, as well as through both public and private schools in the United States while continuing to play in symphonies, orchestras, chamber ensembles and perform as a soloist.

Cello Lessons
Private cello lessons are held in-person in my studio located in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Cello lessons are customized based on the age, learning style, and interests of each student. All lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction and are available in lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. What's Included: a multitude of performance opportunities, orchestra audition preparation, inspiring, supportive environment.
There is flexibility for morning lessons for homeschooling students. Virtual cello lessons are now offered from the convenience of your home, you or your child is able to learn from anywhere in the globe using a computer and a free video chat technology from Skype or Zoom.
Oksana’s teaching style is one of positive reinforcement with the expectation of seeing continued growth in each student.

Studio Policy
Students are expected to show up ready to learn! This means being punctual, well-prepared, and with required instruction books. Consistent, daily practice is a necessity to improve and is expected.
All lessons for the entire month are paid for at the last lesson of the month for the next month. Payment may be made by Cash (preferred), Zelle, or personal check. Checks must be made up to Carolina Royal Strings
A 24-hour courtesy notice is required to reschedule a lesson. Inside of this 24-hour period, rescheduling a lesson is at the discretion of Mrs. McCarthy.
Missed lessons can be made-up within thirty (30) days from missed date.
If a scheduled make-up lesson is missed or is not made up within thirty (30) days, a second one cannot be scheduled.
Lessons start and end on time. Lesson times cannot be extended due to a late arrival.
The monthly payment will be reduced if notice of planed vacations is given by the first of the month.
The credit for a missed lesson by a student will ONLY be compensated with a make-up lesson scheduled within 30 days of the missed lesson. No financial compensation will be given or applied to later lessons. The credit for a missed lesson caused by Mrs. McCarthy will be compensated with a financial credit towards the following month scheduled lessons.
If a check is returned by the bank the parents of the student or the adult student will be charged the bank fee.
If parents or siblings wish to attend a student’s lesson, they must remain quiet in the studio.
If lessons are terminated before the end of the month, payment will not be reimbursed.
If payment is not received within thirty (30) days of the first lesson of the month the regularly scheduled lesson times will be forfeited and assigned to the next student on the waiting list.
A $25 late fee will be assessed for any payment received after 1st of the month.
Please notify Mrs. McCarthy of any health problems that I should be aware of and whom to notify in case of an emergency.
Each student is required to perform in the cello recitals. There will be a recital fee added to the bill to cover expenses for the recital. There is discount of $5 for families with multiple students.
Please note that lesson books, sheet music, instrument, etc. are not included in rates.
Parents are required to be within the home or on the premises while lessons with the instructor are being conducted.
Lesson policies will be enforced throughout the entire year.
